Alba Iulia Trip

A city so rich in history

Tour details

TOUR description

Not far from Sibiu or Cluj, Alba Iulia is an amazing place, one steeped deep in the Romanian history. There you’ll find proof of 2 millennia of history: the roman times, a thousand year old catholic cathedral, just near to Reunification orthodox cathedral, all of these inside the gem - the Vauban fortification from the Habsburg occupation of Transylvania, the imposing Alba Carolina Citadel, richly carved with sculptures and reliefs in a baroque style which went through major restoration.
We can start our trip at Sibiu or Cluj, and depending on our starting point we can have some interesting places to visit before we reach Alba Iulia. We can stop at the spectacular and surreal Turda Salt Mine or have a wine tasting experience at one of the oldest cellars in Romania. The fortified Saxon church of Calnic, listed on UNESCO World Heritage Sites or the Romanian villages of the Marginimea Sibiului can be added to our itinerary as well.
